ABOUT UNITED‘24

We are all witnesses to the growing frequency of disasters negatively impacting our communities. Their impact is often severe, resulting in loss of life, destruction of property and critical infrastructure, upheaval in economic and social activities, scarcity of essential resources, and enduring psychological tolls on survivors. Preparing for disasters is imperative, as it stands our best defense to save lives, expedite recovery, and mitigate the profound psychological repercussions that follow in the wake of such events.

The state of Kerala has unfortunately been confronted with numerous disasters in recent years, such as the devastating floods of 2018 and the tragic Balasore train derailment in 2023. These events raised critical questions about our community’s readiness to respond to such crises and have prompted us to consider if more could have been done in preparation. At Believer’s Church Medical College Hospital (BCMCH), we are committed to studying these events, learning from our experiences, and channeling that knowledge into improved regional disaster preparedness and response strategies.

Introducing for the first time UNITED‘24 – Unfolding Newer Innovations for Tomorrow’s Emergencies and Disasters. This conference is designed to inform attendees about awareness, preparedness, response, recovery, and resilience in disaster management. It is set to become an invaluable platform for education, hands-on-training, collaborative efforts, networking, strategic planning, and cultivation of resilience. Its mission is to empower our community to effectively confront, prepare for, respond to, and recover from the myriad of disasters that challenge us.

With an extensive blend of expert lectures, immersive training experiences, insights from international speakers, and the opportunity to acquire renowned certifications, UNITED'24 aims to bolster the safety and resilience of communities impacted by various disasters. Attendees, regardless of their roles, will leave better equipped to navigate the challenges presented by disasters should they impact their communities. As we look ahead, let us remember that disasters are a shared challenge, and our collective efforts in disaster preparedness and response can make a substantial difference in safeguarding our beautiful homes and vibrant communities.
